Across the retail sector, the median minimum established rate for retail assistants in 2024 is £11.45 an hour. This represents an increase of 9% or 95p since last year. Data taken from IDR’s annual survey of pay and conditions in retail suggests that minimum rates of pay remain highest in food retail where the median is £12.02; this is 5% (or 57p) above the sector as a whole and some 9.1% (or £1.00) above our previous findings.
