Energy prices push inflation up a little

Latest figures on inflation have broken with recent trends, according to the Office for National Statistics.

All three inflation measures have risen this month, according to the Office for National Statistics. The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) is 3.1% for the year to July 2024 (up from 2.8% in June). Similarly, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) is also up: it was showing at 2.0% last month but is now 2.2%. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) has seen the greatest rise, to 3.6%, having been 2.9% in June...
