Issue 39, December 2024

I hope this issue finds you well. It’s something of a bumper one, since it contains a number of special features, in addition to our usual analysis of pay awards and the outlook for inflation. The first of these relates to the Employment Rights Bill 2024, which is currently making its way through parliament. As such, there are likely to be amendments as well as subsequent regulations to implement the various aspects of this complex Bill, and we will of course cover these in coming issues of the bulletin. We also cover occupational sick pay provision, pay in the retail sector, and pay for project management roles. The last of these show the pay pressures that are still around as we turn into the New Year. We wish you all the compliments of the season and look forward to working with you in 2025.

In this issue, we cover:

  • Occupational sick pay typically worth 26 weeks’ pay after five years
  • Government moves to establish a range of new employment rights
  • Pay growth for project management roles in 2024
  • Supermarkets’ minimum pay rates remain ahead of the retail sector as a whole
